Busbridge Community Forum
Street cleaning schedule
Reliability of street and pavement cleaning continues to be an issue for the Forum,
though there were significant improvements in 2007, for example on Holloway
Hill and other heavily littered locations.
In 2007, after considerable negotiation with
the Waverley Borough Council, we were able to obtain and publish the schedule
planned for the area. This allowed residents to monitor performance and to
report any shortfall. This arrangement appeared to coincide with improved
standards. Environmental Services Officer, Paul Redmond, has promised a similar facility for 2008
which is still to be agreed with the contractor (at 12 January 2008). As soon as
we have it, it will be published here.
Obstruction of street cleaning by parked cars
continues to be a matter of concern, and the problem is increasing with the
displacement of parking to Busbridge from the regulated areas of the town — an
unforeseen consequence of tighter enforcement in the town centre. It's not easy
to see a solution but the Forum will maintain a dialogue with residents and with
the Waverley authority.
In the meantime, residents should keep a close check on the work done by
Waverley's street cleaning contractors. Report any failures of schedule or
quality to 01483-523419.
